Be a Secret Santa for a Senior Citizen + Giveaway!!!!!

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog.  I am doing a special post for Christmas.  I am wanting to make sure that we don't forget about those that are in a Senior Citizens home with no family.

Today I am asking that everyone please think of those that are often forgotten at this time of the year.  I would love to be able to surprise at least 50 Senior Citizens with a Special Gift at Christmas.  I need your help to do it.  For everyone that purchases one of these bundles I will put your name in to a drawing for a Bundle of AVON products valued at $50.

Often times those that are in a Senior Home are there because loved one's just can't care for them.  Too often they are neglected and don't get many if any visitors let alone gifts.  When was the last time you said you were going to to see one of your elders but never got around to it?  Even though we may not mean to forget to visit them we get busy with our day to day life and never make it.

This time of the year should be magical for everyone and our Seniors are no exception.  I want to be able to make someone have a very Merry Christmas and know that they are not forgotten.  I NEED YOUR HELP to make this happen!!!!
So HELP ME share the joy of this holiday season and surprise someone with a gift they weren't expecting.  Who knows it may be the only one they get.  So open your hearts and help me with this adventure and pay it forward to someone who may need some cheering up.

Tis the season to be giving and sharing Love and Joy so help me bring a smile to someone's face.  Stay tuned for another great CHRISTMAS GIVING idea for children that are in homes and state care.

Don't forget to enter now and come back daily for more entries.  Together we can make someone happy.

♥♥♥ Thankful Thursday ♥♥♥

Hello everyone and welcome back to another post here on my little ole blog.  Today I wanted to share with you the things I am Thankful for and the Surprise I got today from my daughter.  When is the last time you stopped and thought about all the things you are thankful for?

Have you told someone how Thankful you are for them being in your life?  Sent them a card lately, gotten them flowers or just called to say Thank You?  In today's world we are so busy with the everyday hustle and bustle that sometimes we forget to stop and say a simple Thank you.

Today I am going to share with you the things I am Thankful for and hope that you can take just a moment and reflect on the things that you are Thankful for in your life.

GOD - Seriously how could we not be Thankful to him?  Without him we would not be here and the world would not exist.  No matter how messed up things seem to be at times, GOD is always in Control and knows Best!!!!!

Kids/Grandkids - I am so Thankful for having such amazing kids and grandkids.  I don't get to see my oldest two and haven't now for 7 years but if they are anything like their Mom than I know they are amazing.  I have an amazing son and daughter who have both graduated high school, both are Assistant Managers at their company and my daughter is going to college.

Sibilings - I am especially Thankful for my brothers and sister.  Without them I don't know where I would be sometimes.  They are the glue to hold me together at times.

Inlaws - Kisha and Marie are the most amazing sister-in-laws that I could ask for.  They have been there with me through all the hard times in my life and for that I will forever be Thankful and Grateful.

Work - I would be at a total loss without a job.  I was laid off a couple years ago and was only out of work for about 3 weeks and it drove me insane!!!!  Don't get me wrong it was nice to have downtime but there is only so many times you can clean the house, play on the computer and talk on the phone.  Seriously I was climbing the walls.

Health - even though I have been dealing with a sore throat, bronchitis then pneumonia I am still thankful that I am breathing everyday.

Friends - I normally don't say that I have friends because most people I know are either from work or my past.  I don't get to see them often or talk to them much.  But those that I get to see from time to time I can call a friend because we always seem to pick up as if no time has ever passed.  Those are true friends.    I have 1 male friend and 1 female friend that I have been friends with for over 30 years.  We still talk as if we never missed a beat.

Vehicle - yes I know it seems strange to be Thankful for a vehicle but in today's world we need them.  No matter how hard we try to deny it, life is simpler and sometimes harder with them.

Home - Yes I am Thankful for where I live but it isn't home technically.  Home is where you hang your heart and mine will always be at my first home I ever bought.  I know that sounds bad and I don't mean for it to but that is where I have memories of all of my family including my late daughter and mom being.  That is where we laughed, cried, fought, discovered, grew and connected.  That is where alot of things happened.  I wouldn't ever live there again because the neighborhood has gone to hell in a hand basket but you get the point.

Weather - oh how I love this time of the year.  I would be forever Thankful if it stayed like this all year round.  It isn't too hot nor too cold and there is a slight breeze.  Just perfect!!!!!

So those are the main things that I wanted to share that I am Thankful for today and everyday.  The flowers, card, Pepsi and KitKat that my daughter brought me today made me realize that I don't stop and acknowledge what I am Thankful for.  There is so much that I think we all take it for granted sometimes.

Futuristic Wednesday Hodgepodge

Welcome back to another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond is our wonderful hostess who comes up with some great questions that really make you think, sometimes even outside of the box.  So feel free to jump over here and get the questions, come back to your blog and answer them and then link back up with Joyce and the rest of us for the various answers, thoughts and ideas while learning about and meeting new people.

1. October 21, 2015 is Back to the Future Day. Did you see the movie? The sequels? In the second film, Doc takes Marty into the future to prevent Marty's future son from making a mistake. They leave 1985 and land on a 'skyway' on October 21st, 2015. So tell us, what were you doing in the fall of 1985?

--- Yes I have seen all of the Back to the Future Movies.  They never get old no matter how many times I watch them.  As for what I was doing in the fall of 1985 that is a hard one to remember because I was only 13.

2.  If time travel were possible, would you want to go to the future? The past?

--- Definitely the past.  I would go back to when my children were younger and change the way that we lived our lives.  I would still be able to spend time with my mom and my oldest daughter whom are both in Heaven together.  They were inseparable in life and certainly in death.  They died less than 6 months from one another.

3. We're not flying cars, but some of the technology imagined in the 80's film has indeed come to pass in real life 2015-flat screen TVs on the wall, tablets, fingerprint recognition, video conferencing, online banking, 3-D movies, motion controlled video games, drone cameras, and smart glasses (Google glass).  Do you worry technology is growing at a rate so fast we'll soon be unable to keep up with it's demands? Do you think the Internet does more harm than good?

--- I honestly believe that it is happening way to fast.  It isn’t that the technology is good it is the issue of affordability.  Not everyone can afford the prices that some of these items cost nor the utilities to pay for some of it.  We in today’s society I believe are technology poor.  We have to pay for the smartphones which are in excess of $200-$600 for things that are more fragile it seems than a regular drinking glass.  If you buy one and you drop it you may not be able to get it replaced by the insurance that you carry for just that reason.

As for the internet being a good or bad….honestly, I think it has made a lot of our children lazy.  You can get on the internet and go to any search engine and type in what you are looking for and find it.  I remember having to look in the dictionary and encyclopedia when I was younger or better yet, asking an elder for the answer.  If you wanted to know a phone number or address you had to look in the phone book.  Today it is not that way.  I am a guilty party as well I have to admit.

4. Your favorite dish prepared in a slow-cooker? Your favorite fast food?

--- My favorite dish would have to be my mom’s potroast.  I still can’t make it like she did and it was always amazing.  As for my favorite fast food, I would have to say White Castles.  If you have a Crystals where you are than you can get a pretty close idea of what I am talking about.  I don’t know why I love them but I do.  They are the go to food here after the bars close that is for sure.

5. No time like the present, down time, face time, pressed for time, in the nick of time, make time, mark time, or just in time...which timely saying most relates to your life right now?

--- I would have to say pressed for time.  I am terrible at writing things down on my calendar to remember them.  I hardly ever make it to work on time because I either leave 5 minutes to late or hit traffic that is slower than a snails ass.  I honestly suck at time.

6. Tell us about a place you went as a child or younger person that's no longer there or is now something else. How does that make you feel?

--- Bacons Department store.  I loved going there for school clothes.  When I got to my teens I used to go there with a friend and we would try on the wedding dresses and pretend on what our wedding day would be.  The ladies there never minded us coming to try on the gowns and always helped us find ones that would make us look like princesses.  Honestly I think they were just bored out of their mind.  It was a lot of fun.  I do miss Bacons and wish that they would come back because they always seemed to have the clothes that fit, they were affordable, and always in style.

7. Describe your comfort zone.

--- Being with family.  There is nothing more comforting than being with the one’s you love.  Ok maybe being in my pj’s all day but that isn’t always possible.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

--- I recently found these amazing items on etsy and contacted the seller to see if she made custom orders.  I was so thrilled when she said yes.  She is in the UK and was such a sweetheart to deal with.  She made me 2 different necklaces to choose from but I liked them both so I told her that I would take them both along with the Heart Pendant that she made for me.  It was as if it was meant to be.  I found her two days before the angelversary of my daughter Heather.  I found the heart first and asked if she could do them in Pink and Brown for my late daughter.  She said she could and agreed to do the Butterfly necklaces in the same colors for me.

I went to the post office yesterday and checked the box and I had them there waiting for me.  They were so beautiful and perfect.  Much better than I had anticipated them to be that is for sure.  The Heart Pendant was also a lot bigger than I had expected.  I have to say it was the best $32 dollars I have ever spent.  I got one for my daughter Victoria to put in her car and the other for my car.
I am still dealing with being sick for over a month now but I have to say that finding these items on etsy certainly made me feel a lot better.  To hold them in my hand and know they were made especially for me was even better.  I know that they are unique and no one else has one.

Well that is all for me on this hodgepodge but please be sure to leave a comment with your website so that I can hope over and drop you a line and meet new people.

Patiently Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge.  If you have never joined us then please hop on over here and get the questions and then answer on your blog and link up.  We are all looking to meet new and interesting people and grow our followings.  Joyce @ From This Side ofthe Pond always comes up with great questions that will make you think.

So without further ado let’s get to the questions and answers shall we.

1. What's something that has recently 'tried your patience'?
--- I would have to say people at work. It is like they forget on a daily basis what it is they are suppose to do for writing a purchase order that they do daily.

2. Do you think patience comes to us naturally or is it something you have to learn as you grow? On a scale of 1-10 generally how patient are you? (1=I blow up at the drop of a hat and 10=I've got all the time in the world).
--- I think it is something that we have to learn.  I am currently going through this with my 15 month old grandson.  As for my patients I would say I am at a 6.

3. Share about a time when you felt like you could fly. Or a time you wished you could fly. Or a time you felt like you were flying.
--- Oh wow this is a hard one.  The only time I have ever felt like I was flying was in a dream.  The same dream I have had about 20 times in the last 20 years.  It wasn’t for fun either.

4. Your favorite song with the word fly in the title or lyrics, or your favorite song that relates to flying in some way?
  --- Drops of Jupiter

5. What's in your fall picnic basket and where are we picnicking in your neck of the woods this time of year?
--- Oh I don’t do picnics but if I did it would have some Wine, Cheese, Fruits and crackers and we would be in the Bernhaim Forrest.

6.  Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping...which skill would you most like to possess and how would you put that skill to use today?
--- This is an easy one.  I would have to say Plumbing.  I have actually re-done an entire kitchen and bathroom.  As for using it today, I would have to say that I recently fixed my kitchen sink that was leaking.

7. What's something you think is too expensive to justify buying lately?
--- A treadmill.  Even though I want one for at home, I can always go to the gym and use theirs.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
--I am still fighting with this cold that I have had since September 1st.  It seems to only get worse.  The doctor now says that I have bronchitis and double ear infection.  I can hardly hear out of my right ear and my left ear is starting to be the same way.  I wish I could take a magic pill and make it all go away.

Don’t forget to leave a comment with your blog link so that I may visit and leave some blog loving as well.  I hope you have a great rest of the week and look forward to meeting new people.

♥♥Happy Anniversary to my Husband♥♥

Today I want to wish my hubby a Happy 4th Anniversary.  I know that things can get a little crazy in the house but I wanted to let you know that I Love You and I am Thankful for you and all you do.

You are a good husband, step father and the best pawpaw a boy could ask for.  I am so thrilled to see you and the baby interact that you have no idea.  You want to put off this tough guy, I don't like kids attitude but when it comes to that baby you are one big pile of fluff.  Thank you for that from the bottom of my heart.

I know that I and the kids can't be easy to live with at times or to even deal with but you are standing your ground and keeping put.  Thank you.

I know that I give a long answer to simple questions and they drive you mad but you are still here.  Thank you.

I know that you hold your tongue alot on many things and I Thank you for that.

Bottom line, THANK YOU for being there and never running away even when it seems like I am pushing you away.

Happy Anniversary honey.

Sick of being Sick!!!!!

Hello everyone and Happy Monday.  Ok if Mondays could be happy that is.

Have you ever had a cold or sniffles that just seems to last forever?  Like more than a week forever?  Since I came back from my trip to Florida on the 1st of September I have been sick.  The entire weekend I was in Florida I never made it out of the hotel because of the Tropical storm came through and I didn't have a rental car.  Boy do I regret not having a car now.  Anyhow, the day I flew out to come home I started to feel really sluggish.  Then once I got to the airport I noticed that my throat was starting to hurt.

So off I went in Atlanta Airport in search of some cough drops.  I found them and a couple bottles of water and it seemed to help a little but not much.  By the time I landed at home I couldn't hardly swallow.  My throat was killing me and I felt like complete and utter crap.  The only bright side was seeing my hubby, daughter and grandson when I got off the plane.  By the next day I couldn't hardly talk at all.

I guess you know that everyone in the house was thrilled about that.  But I have to admit I am a big baby when it comes to being sick.  I want to be pampered and weighted on hand and foot without saying a word.  Well that didn't happen obviously.    I was off work for the rest of the week so I was thankful that I could stay home and rest.  I went to the doctor and she says "yes you have something but it's not strep throat".  What are you serious?  What is it if not strep throat?  Her solution was to give me an antibiotic and told me to take 800 mg of ibuprofen.  If not better than come back.  Well I figured I would give it a bit longer to work because we all know that antibiotics aren't miracle workers.

So let me introduce you to my new best friends (as if that is possible)....

I have gone through 1 1/2 bottles of the NyQuil and a full bottle of Dayquil.  Still I have this damn cough.  It has only gotten worse.  I can hardly hear out of my right ear and the pain from coughing is about to kill me.  So off to the doctor I went again last week and she tells me "you have bronchitis and double ear infection".  Damn seriously, will this ever end?  I am beginning to lose any hope at all.  It has been over a month now since I have been back and I am still no better.

So now I am taking another antibiotic, 800 mg of ibuprofen, Sudafed for the congestion  to hopefully clear up the ear issue, hydrocodone cough medicine to help me sleep at night and still no progress.  I honestly don't know what else to try.  I am so sick of being sick that it isn't even funny.  I just want this over and done with.

I am however thankful that it isn't anything contagious that the baby could get because that would be horrible.  I have him every night because momma and him live with me and hubby so I am praying this will be over soon but I honestly don't see any end in sight.

My daughter keeps telling me to drink a hot toddy and get some rest.  I don't know about you but I have had one of those things and they are HORRIBLE!!!!!  First off they have lemon in it, second it has honey in it and third I have to be in the mood to even drink Whiskey.

Hopefully things will get better soon and I mean like by tonight soon.  Of course we know that probably won't happen but here's to wishing.  Oh and tonight of course is my 4th year wedding anniversary and we are suppose to go out to dinner.  I think we might just be staying home instead.

So tell me, what home remedies have you tried that has worked for you?  If you haven't tried any do you know anyone who has and had success with it?  I would love to hear your feedback and recommendations.  Hell who knows I might try it and it works.

A Letter to Heaven

My Dearest Heather,

Oh how I miss you more than words could ever express.  You were taken from us 7 years ago and it hasn't been the same since.  Even though it has been 7 years now it seems like you are still not really gone.  There ins't a day that doesn't go by that we are talking about you in some fashion or another and I have even caught myself wanting to pick up the phone to call you.  You were loved beyond anything you could have imagined and I only wish you were still here to know that.

It has been a long time since I had been to the cemetery to visit you because of issues with you know who throwing away everything and anything that I brought for you.  I stopped by the day before the anniversary of your passing to say hi and see how the grave was looking.  I was surprised that I didn't see all sorts of decorations or flowers there.  I guess that person has finally stopped coming around as well.  It is still so hard to this day knowing that I will never get to hear your voice again, the way you said "Moooommmmm" or the way you laugh.  It still tears me up to this day and I don't know if this pain will ever go away.

I still haven't gotten to see your kids and I know that you are watching down on there.  I just pray and hope that they don't think we have abandoned them.  It was not by our choosing to not be able to see them or talk to them.  They are still a very big part of my daily struggles with wondering how they are and if they are being treated right.  I am only guessing that you know who is loving the fact that I can't see or talk to them.  It wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't paybacks for him not being in your life.  We both know how he could be and I only hope that one day he realizes what he has done.  I pray that he never has to experience what I have had to experience these last 7 years without your children, my grandchildren.

I know that you are in Heaven with your Nana and you both are probably having a great time.  After all Heaven is a Happy place, peaceful, joyful, loving and everything that we all try to get a piece of in our daily lives.

So many things have changed since you have left us.  I got divorced from that jerk you didn't like and remarried.  We have been together now for 4 years today.  Your sister has a son who is just absolutely adorable.  You and your Nana would have loved him.  He has made me look at things alot differently since he was born.  Both your sister and brother are Assistant Managers at Great Cookie Company at the malls.  Both have vehicles and your sister isn't constantly battling me like she was before.  We have actually become closer like you and I were.

Even though it is October and technically fall here I have seen several butterflies this past week that have reminded me of you.  You always loved butterflies and it is extremely strange to see them flying around in the fall.  I take it as a sign that you are always with me even during this difficult week.  They literally will land within a few inches of me or on top of my car.  I know you are in a better place but I am still angry that you are gone.  I don't understand how someone with so much life, love, family and dreams could be taken from their children when there are far more worse people out there.  I am not wishing them dead by any means or saying they don't matter to anyone as much as you matter to me but it isn't fair.

I am going to close for now and recompose myself so I can do my work but I wanted to tell you that I Love You and I Miss You every single second of every single minute of every single hour of every single day.  God took the brightest star when he took you and I will never understand it and I don't know if I will ever get over it.

See you in Heaven one day.
Love Always and Forever,
♥♥Mom♥♥
