Decisions, Decisions, Blog Templates Galore...HELP!!!!!!!!

Happy Monday everyone.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a wonderful start to your week so far.  My weekend was a lazy one.  My hubby and I basically sat around all day both Saturday and Sunday on the couch and switched back and forth from Star Trek and Greys Anatomy.  I haven't watched Grey's since before Izzy got sick and I decided I would start from the beginning again on Netflix.  I swear that program is addicting.

Anyway, I started to talk to my SIL Kisha about blog designs and what it is that I want in mine.  It is so confusing.  Do you know how many designs are out there?  Seriously there are like 20 million gazillion of them.  It is so hard to narrow it down.  Especially when you aren't sure what you want but know you want something that POPS and makes people stay awhile.

This is just the beginning of Elegant Blogger Designs when you google it.  Which is hard to choose because I want something that is simple, elegant, colorful and pops all at the same time.  I want ones with drop down menus but ones that aren't too busy and yet keep you engaged.

I want something that has color but not too much color,  Something that is mostly full page on post yet allows all the sidebar stuff without loosing you in it.  This is a screen shot of Chic Blogger templates.  See the pretty colors without over doing it.

Then you have the Cute Blogger Templates that have alot of color, they seem to pop off the page but some don't have the drop down menu or they are the right color and layout but extremely too busy and don't look very simple or professional.

Seriously how do you people decide what you want your blog to look like?  I like color but not to much, I want it to pop and say "Hey Look At Me" but I don't want to give you a headache or make you run screaming because of all the colors and busy stuff.  I am just so confused.  My SIL told me to go to Etsy and see what I can find on there but honestly I am not really an Etsy user.  I don't want to pay for something that I don't know if I will like.  I certainly don't want to have to turn over my passwords to my accounts to someone to have them install the template only not to be able to do the changes I want to do without having them do it for a fee.

I am curious as to how you decided on your blog template?  What draws you to a blog in the first place?  Is it the subject, title, color, design or something else entirely?  I would really love to know.  My blog to me looks a little too busy but I don't know how to make it look less and not boring at the same time.  One of my biggest issues is this:

I want this to be alot shorter, less crowded and more organized but not sure how.  I am sure there is a widget for this but it drives me crazy.  Then I have the issue with the tabs at the top.

Fortunately for me, I remembered to do both the AVON and #AVON tag on this post but I have plenty more that don't have them both.  I don't seem to always remember to put both of the words in every post.  Which undoubtedly causes alot of my AVON post not to show up under the AVON tab.  Super annoying....uggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me I am not the only person with these issues?  It is just so damn frustrating to figure out.  It is hard to get it all the way you want it and at a reasonable price that you know for sure will do what you want it to do.

So bring it on ladies.  Who did you use to design your blog and what made you pick them?  Was it hard to figure out what you wanted on your blog?  What was the deciding factor for you?  I know that there are a ton of differences between WordPress and Blogger Templates but I still want to know the answers regardless of what forum you use.

Love to hear what your thoughts and process is.  Help me out ladies because I know I can't be the only one with these issues.
