Hello everyone and welcome back to the week. Monday's are usually not our most favorite days but giving that yesterday was Mother's Day it isn't so bad. I wanted to share what I did for my daughter's first Mother's Day. Since her son isn't old enough to make anything or write or do anything other then just being plan cute, I decided this year I would do a homemade gift.
The above picture is just 1 of the things that I made her for Mother's Day. I got the idea from Mique@thirtyhandmadedays. Such a brilliant idea. I don't remember how I came across her blog but I fell in love when I first landed on it. She has tons of such cute ideas on there that you can make at home. So I decided to go with this project here since it was so adorable. Her's however only has about 5 or six in the jar but I wanted to do more than that. I decided to do 2 dozen of these bad boys which is alot of cutting. But she loved it.
The great big one in the middle I actually made as a 2 sider and all the others are just one sided. I goofed when I printed the first one because I just assumed that it would be smaller. Uh WROOOONNNNNGGGGGG!!!!! You have to actually tell your program what size to print. After realizing the mistake I then went in and selected the 4 x 7 print and that way I was able to do 2 per page. Of course I printed one and then flipped the paper and fed it back into the printer for the second one.
So the basic supplies were a no brainer but the others was a little more tricky. Here is the list:
Heavy Weight Card Stock @Hobby Lobby
3-D Monkey Stickers @Hobby Lobby
Sock Monkey Ribbon @ Hobby Lobby (couldn't find on website)
Evergreen Colored Paint @Hobby Lobby
Glass Gems @ Michaels (already had these)
Lime Stripe Straws@Hobby Lobby
It really is an easy project to do and it shows that you really care because you have to cut each individual flower out after using PicMonkey to create them. My hands were sore to say the least but it was from the heart. You can rearrange them or put them into other places as well. It is a versatile gift for sure.
Then I made her this gift which really tried my patience. Because Walgreens screwed up the first photo. I had a free 8 x 10 and I thought this would be good to use. The photo when I picked it up was horrible. They but off half the top and the bottom or Side however you look at it. Instead I had to reprint it from home but at least it got printed and done like I wanted it to be.
Again, everything came from Hobby Lobby (I swear they are my new favorite place). Thankfully I had some matte photo paper at home and was able to reprint it from home. It just really upset me because the photo from Walgreens didn't work out. I am certainly glad that I didn't have to pay for the original because I would not have been a very nice/happy customer. Since he couldn't write or anything I took and painted the bottoms of his feet and then stood him on a piece of paper and wrote his name and the date under neath it and stuck it in a card. That away she has several keepsakes for her first Mother's Day. Next year will be different.
All in all it was a good day. We lazied around while my daughter and the baby went to her Aunt's for breakfast/lunch and visited with her dads side of the family. Then hubby and I went to dinner at Del Frisco's which I will be doing a post on in a little bit.
So again, Thank you Mique for your great tutorial on how to make the flowers. They were a hit at the house and even though my hand hurt like no other it was well worth it. Gifts from the heart are Priceless and more meaningful then something you can ever buy at a store.
So what do you think? Do you agree or disagree that gifts from the heart are priceless? What is your favorite homemade gift that you have received or given? Do you still have it? Let me know and be sure to leave a link to your blog and I will hop over and check it out. Who knows you might have something I try next and write about.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge. I am joining up with Joyce again for another great post. All about mom and rightfully so since this is the month that we Celebrate our Moms.
Be sure to hop over and check out her blog and then answer the questions on your own blog and link up. A lot of great bloggers join in every week.
1. What's a phrase your mother often said to you? If you're a parent, is this something you now say to your own children?
Have you hugged your mom today, have you sent her on her way with Love, Love, Love, Love, Love? (this used to be a theme song to a latch key kid commercial I think but not sure, maybe a child abuse prevention commercial)
No I don’t say this to my kids but I do make sure that I tell them that I Love them before they leave the house and before I go to bed. I want it to be the last thing they hear from me even if they are mad at me, they will know that I Love them!!
2. What is a scent you associate with your mother or your childhood home?
Chanel No. 5 perfume and black cherry candles. My mom always smelled good and her perfume lingered even when she left my house. I miss her so much. Her car even smelled like her perfume even though she smoked in her car you could never tell it.
3. What's an activity you remember always doing with your mother (or someone who was a mother figure in your life)?
Playing Bingo. We went to Bingo every chance we got. It was something she like doing even if she didn't win. It was her time to be among other adults as she said without worrying about the kids.
4. Flared jeans, maxi dresses, and jumpsuits are 70's fashion trends back this spring. Are you on board? Which trend would you be most inclined to try? For the men...flared corduroys, wide-collared shirts, and floral prints...what say you?
Well I am going with Flared Jeans. I wear them now and it is probably the only time I am in fashion…lol. As for the men, none of the above appeal to me or my husband.
5. May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Day and also Nurse Appreciation Day. Is there a nurse or teacher you have especially appreciated along the way? Tell us why?
Not that I can think of. I don’t have anyone that I know in either profession. But I remember one particular nurse that was called “mom” when I had my kids she was there for all of the deliveries and she was amazing. She had a way of making me think about something other than the pain of labor.
6. If I came by your house, what would I find on your frig door?
My daughter Victoria took her GED last summer and passed. We just got the notification of the Graduation Ceremony on the 15th. You would certainly find that along with a copy of the medicine conversion chart for Children's Tylenol since I have my grandson.
7. Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana made her royal entrance on Saturday, May 2nd. On a scale of 1-10, how much attention did you give to all the news coverage? 1=Who's Charlotte? 10=sat glued to the telly, cuppa in hand.
I would say a 2. I seen the post and a snippet of the video where she walked out of the hospital but other than that I don’t pay much attention to it.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
This month is a sweet and sad month in regards to Mother’s Day for me. It is sad because I don’t have my mom with me here anymore and my daughter isn't here anymore to spend Mother’s Day with her kids. This is my mom and Heather in 2007 at her GED Graduation Ceremony. One of the few times my mom actually let me take her picture.
|R.I.P. Mom and Heather|
♥Happy Heavenly Mother's Day ♥
Neither are here to celebrate Miss KayLee’s birthday this month or the graduation celebration for Victoria. However, it is sweet as well because my other daughter Victoria is going to be celebrating her 1st Mother’s Day this year. I have found all sorts of great and amazing things to do for her from the baby thanks to blogger, pinterest and co-workers sharing ideas they have found. Once I get the crafts done I will share with you all. I know she wants a mom ring which I don’t have a problem getting but I want her first Mother’s Day to be extra special.
This wraps us another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge. Don’t forget to leave your comments below and your website so that I can check in and see your Hodgepodge answers. We are all looking to grow our blogs and blogging friends.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there and all the Dad's that are Mom's as well. It is the most underpaid, exhausting, roller coaster of emotions, want to pull your hair out sometimes, sad, happy, joyful, overwhelming, best thing that will ever happen to you that you will ever experience or do in life. No matter how old your children are they will always be your babies. My daughter would have been 26 this year, Victoria will be 25 and Brandon will be 21 this year and they are all still my babies and will be until the day I am no longer here on earth with them.

Did you know that you are suppose to replace your Mascara every two - three months because it can get bacteria? Alot of people keep using their mascara until way past the three month mark. You could be causing yourself unnecessary pain with eye infections. When in doubt, throw it out!
What about lipstick? Yes even that should be replaced within 6 months of opening it for it also can get bacteria on it.
Foundation is another product that should be tossed after 6 months to a year. The best way to preserve your foundation is by using a make-up brush, clean sponge or hands to apply it. Be sure to keep your foundation in a place that is dry and not the bathroom.
Do you know the proper way to use a face treatment product? If you are using a product that is specific for things such as wrinkles or spot correction to even skin-tone then you need to apply this product after washing your wash. Let the product set in for 20 minutes before applying your moisturizer. This will give the product enough time to absorb into your skin and start working. This is recommended for the best results possible.

Hello and sorry for the bad graphic above. I am so seriously confused at the moment I am not sure if I should say to hell with it or keep going.
I know that there is a lot of debate about what platform to use for blogging. I have only blogged on blogger so I have no opinion on the other. However, I do want to change my blog design and I don't have a clue on where to start. I have found some that I like but then think that they are either too busy, too colorful, too unprofessional, too easy to pass by when surfing. So my question is...How do you decide?
Seriously, I have no crafty or style bone in my body for me to even begin to know what to have on it or what I want. I can tell you that I want something to catch your eye but not hurt your eyes, I want something that resembles me but not boring, I want something that is going to make you stop and say hi or stay all day. So how do you figure all these things out for a design?
My SIL Kisha told me that I should just hire someone to design one for me but I don't know what I want and it is frustrating. How can you hire someone if you don't have a clue on what you want in your design. I know that I don't want the one I have any longer but I don't think that will give the designer a good enough answer. I want something that has to do with coffee, computers, make up, life and yet is pretty and fun but elegant.
Do I have your head spinning now for sure? Yeah I know mine is. I want something that is navigational friendly, easy to use and can be rearranged if I want it to be. If I hire someone to design it will I still be able to change things around? What if I hire them and then decide that I don't like it but don't want to pay for any additional changes on the blog?
So here is my questions to all of you out there in blogland...How do you decide? What made you pick the theme you have? Did you pay for it or use a free template? How do you justify the price for your blog? Have you noticed an increase in traffic since you changed it?
I would really love to know what your thoughts are and see how you decided. I have found several that I am posting below that I like but I am so confused.
Your opinion is greatly appreciated for it is hard to make such a huge decision. I am trying to figure out which would be best for my blog since it isn't a defined style on my writing. I write about everything from AVON to life happening to just linking up with others.

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. This is a different kind of post for me but I am so enjoying it. This is the Liebster Award and it is designed to introduce you to Bloggers who have less than 200 followers. I was graciously nominated by Megan Danielle over at The Twin Cedars. I found her on Facebook in the Blog Beautiful Community. You can check them out by clicking on their banner on the right to take you to Marianne site Dsignyourownblog.com and join in. A lot of great advise and help.
So back to this Liebster Award. Basically you are nominated by someone in the blogging community and you have to have less than 200 followers. You are asked 11 questions and you have to list 11 random facts about yourself. Then you link it back to the person who nominated you. This is a great and fun way to be able to visit other bloggers and learn something new. The best part, you might find something you didn’t know was out there to like in the first place.
Here are my questions from Meghan:
1. What do you blog about? Do you sell anything through your blog or do you just blog?
--- I blog about a little bit of everything from family, tragedy, celebrations, AVON Sales and items to whatever else I can think of. I started it to get my sister-in-law to stop harping on me about starting one. I had no clue about what to write since my life consisted of my hubby, my kids, work and AVON. I don’t have a social life outside of those things. My kids are grown so I don’t do the whole mommy day thing.
2. Can you give 11 random facts about yourself?
- I can’t say the word Yogurt without getting sick at my stomach.
- I love being in the country where it isn't so busy with noise.
- I would rather be home alone then at work
- I have an obsession with Pens. If I pick it up chances are you won’t get it back
- I am terrified to approach new people
- I have been married 5 times. You can read that story here
- I am the definition of a Procrastinator in just about everything I do.
- I get frustrated when my kids or husband procrastinate when I ask them to do something
- I am allergic to cats and dogs. L which sucks because I love them both.
- I feed squirrels and feel guilty when I run out of peanuts to give them.
- I have 1 sister and 3 brothers on my dads side and 2 brothers from my mom who I am close to.
3. How did you come up with your blog name?
---My sister-in-law Kisha helped me. I had no clue and she has been my sounding board and teacher through it all.
4. What is your favorite season of the year and why?
---- If I had to choose one I would choose Fall. It is a time when all the leaves change and the world becomes pretty again from the hot summers.
5. Where does your blog inspiration come from?
---- Everywhere. It might be something I see, heard or read. It could even be something that has happened to either me or someone I am extremely close to.
6. What do you do for a living? Your day job? If you have your own business or blog for a living please oh please share with us how in the world you managed to do it.
---- I am an Accounts Payable Clerk for a Asphalt Company. I also Sell AVON full time as well. It isn’t at the point to replace my day job but it is enough to help pay for my 2013 Volkswagen Passat.
7. What do you love most about blogging?
---- Meeting new people. I am always looking to learn. It doesn’t matter if it is on Photography which I Love or about crafts (I am not talented in that department). It is always amazing to see how other people live, find those that share things in common with me and learning that I am not alone in the world when it comes to different things.
8. If you have kids or pets? Tell me about your babies.
---- My babies are grown. My oldest daughter Heather died almost 7 years ago in a motorcycle accident. She had two very beautiful children whom I don’t get to see because of their dads. You can read about that here. Then there is Victoria who is a new mommy and will be 25 this July. Her son Christian was born exactly 4 days before her 24th birthday. She was my rebel child. She always did things her way and didn't care what others think. She is still that way to a point but now she is all about her son.Next up is Jonathan/Christopher which that story is explained here but after 18 years I got to see him again. I contacted him through Facebook and he replied. I picked him up that same day and he moved in with me. Some would say that was a mistake but I did it anyway. He is my son after all. Looking back I should have taken some time. We don’t talk now because he took money from me and I told him he had to leave for a bit. He never came back and has not really talked to me since. Then there is my baby. Brandon. Oh where do I start with Brandon. He is the baby of the grandchildren and was my moms side kick up until she got sick and couldn't do anything anymore. My kids were extremely close to my mom but Brandon especially. He was raised in a house full of women so he didn't have a prayer…lol. He wears his heart on his sleeve, he gets upset extremely easy and he hates taking advise or money from me. Which the money part can be good although he doesn’t realize I am doing it to help him. It isn’t like he is asking me for it. He does have to pay me back and he knows that but I still would rather him have money and pay me back then to be without money and breakdown somewhere.
9. What was your last, best vacation?
----Oh wow, what a hard question that one is. I have traveled to over 20 different states and they were all my favorite in some way or another. But since I can only choose 1 I am going to go with Disney about two years or so ago. I had never been and my husband’s family was riding bicycles to Florida (yeah I thought they were crazy also) that year and I wanted to go. So I tagged along only we (hubby and I) drove. I got to go see Mickey and Minnie and all the other characters as they were walking by and the dance parade in the center square. Oh it was as if I was a kid all over again. I had so much fun that we went back like a year or two later to do it all again.
10. If you had a really bad day, what’s the one thing that could brighten it up?
---- My grandchildren. Getting to see KayLee and Aadyn would make my year but since I don’t get to see them then I will have to say my other grandchild Christian. He is such a little chunky monkey and is always happy. Yes even when he gets his shots he is still a Happy Baby. You can see for yourself on how chunky and adorable he is.
|He just got his shots right before this picture|
11. If you could stay a certain age forever, what age would that be and why?
---- Wow what a hard one to answer. There are several ages that I want to pick for this one for several reasons. Thanks for really making me do some soul searching and thinking on this one.
I do believe that I am going to choose the age of 25. The reason is because all of my kids were little and under one roof with the exception of Jonathan/Christopher. I was in a job that I Loved, I was in college getting ready to graduate. My mom was alive and healthy and things were just great all around.
Make sure you link back to me so I can read your Liebster Award answers
