Taxing Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge.  If you have never joined in then hop on over here and get the questions, answer them on your blog then click here and join in.  I am totally getting a late start on mine.  Given that it is Tax day and I haven’t been sleeping well I am falling behind on a lot of things.  I still have several letters to catch up on my AtoZChallenge that I am doing.

1. Speaking of April 15th...what's the most 'taxing' thing you've done recently?

---- Taken my taxes to H & R Block.  I actually have to go sign off on them today at 4:30.  So not looking forward to it since I totally didn't budget the money to pay the taxes.  Instead I got happy paying bills.  Luckily I have my AVON Business Account that I could pull money from to cover it.

2. When did you last take a taxi somewhere and where was that somewhere?

----To the airport in St. Louis.  I was there on a business trip and was heading home.  The driver was great and decided that we needed to take a detour to the local grocery store because he wanted to send me home with this amazing hot sauce.  Uh ok as long as you turn off the meter and he agreed.  Seriously, I was in shock.  He bought the hot sauce for me and took me on to the airport.  I tried it and was on fire from it.

3. What's something you can do today that you couldn't do a year ago?

---- Walk up and down the steps at work without getting winded.  I am not where I want to be yet but I am well on my way.

4. How often is chicken (in some form or fashion) on your menu at home? Which of the following would you most like to see on your table tonight...a chicken salad sandwich, your mom's fried chicken, a
Chick-fil-A meal, Cracker Barrel's chicken n' dumplings, a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings, or 'hold the chicken, I'm a vegetarian'...?

---- We usually have chicken 2 times a week.  As for your choices of chicken for tonight I would say none of them.  We still have Beans left over from last night.  But If I could choose it would be my mom’s fried chicken if my mom was still with us.

5. What was your favorite television program when you were a kid? What characters do you remember the most?

---- I would have to say it was Punky Brewster.   Well I remember Punky for sure and of course the Dad character but I am not recalling his name.  But I loved that show.

6. What was the last piece of 'art' you made?

----Wow seriously making me think way back there aren't ya…lol.  I would have to say it was a drawing in my senior year of high school.  So it has been over 20 yrs.

7. What frustrates you most about the Internet?

---- Porn/Viruses/Spam is a big frustration.  You never know what you are clicking on to make a lot of windows pop up and open gosh only knows what.  I tried to pull up the White House Website once and well let’s just say it wasn't for the White House the President lived in that popped up on my screen.    I didn't realize that you would have to put .gov after it and that was a lesson I learned quickly.  I had so many pages pop up that I had to literally unplug my computer because I couldn't get them to stop.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

----Well today is a horrible day for most of us.  It is the day that we have to pay Uncle Sam again!!!!  I mean seriously I am sick and tired of paying into the IRS and not having anything to show for it.  They wonder why so many people are homeless and can’t keep a place to live.  Well duh to them, it is the government.  Not only are we paying taxes, insurance and city and local taxes out of our pay checks weekly but then once a year we have to pay them all that same stuff again in one lump sump and it isn't usually a small payment that we have to make.

I think that if you are paying taxes out of your paycheck and you claim the correct amount of dependents then if you owe money at the end of the year then the employer should have to be the one that pays it for not taking out enough in the first place.  Oh better yet, I know, cut the pay for all the congressmen and put that money back into the IRS and maybe just maybe they will stop raising pricing on everything when they realize how the real world lives and dreads paying for stuff they can’t really afford but have no choice because of the government.
