Summer fun, summer lovin', summer good Hodgepodge!!!!!!

Welcome to the Summertime edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge.  I have been extremely busy this past week and this one but I wanted to make sure I got in on the fun with Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond for another great edition.  So share some blog love and then hope on over to her page and join in.  We have such a great time joining in on her blog.  They are always so fun and you never know what she is going to give us next.

1. What summer activity most takes you back to your own childhood?
---- Wow what a hard one to start with.  Since all of my children are grown, I would have to say picnics at families houses.  We used to get together every year when they were younger and visit family we haven't seen in awhile.

2. What's your favorite summer smell?
---- The Grill...uh hello, I love the smell of hamburgers, hot dogs and ribs on the grill....just thinking bout it is making me hungry.

3. It's beach season in the US of A...so how do you feel about sand?
----  I love the sand.  I could play in it all day long looking for shells.

4. Sun tea, SunChips, sunflower seeds, Capri Sun, Sunny Delight, Sun-Maid raisins, sun-dried tomatoes...your favorite food or beverage with sun in its name?
---- Sunflower seeds with a big ole glass of Sun Tea.

5. What's your favorite way to cool off on a hot summer day?
-----  Sitting in front of the A/C is my #1 way but other then that I would say ice cream for sure and an ice cold Coca Cola even though I am more of a Pepsi girl, nothing beats an Ice Cold Coke.

6. Share a favorite song with the word sun or sunshine in it's title.
----Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and The Waves.  That song always makes me dance no matter where I am or what I am doing.  Ok maybe not dance dance but I sure can't sit still.

7. Tell us about a time you had an exceedingly good or truly awful customer service experience. If it was awful, did you report it? Ever go back there again?
---- Seriously exceedingly good experience......uh no,  truly awful experience...uh no.  I would have to save they are all pretty average.
However, when I was working at a gas station I had a lady throw a 2 liter at me because I charged her 10 cents more then I did her white boyfriend.  I apologized to her and told her that the sign was turned incorrectly and offered her the difference back but she wasn't having any of it.  I finally told her to get out or I was calling the cops.  Just so happens about that time the cops pulled up anyway to get them something to drink as well.  I thought she was going to lose it at that point but she just walked out and didn't come back again while I was on shift.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
----  Last week was crazy busy because I was covering for a lady on vacation and I had almost 50 hrs in .  This week I am covering for my boss and you know how it goes....if something can go wrong it usually does.  Needless to day it is only Wednesday and all I want is for my mommy to hold me and tell me everything will be OK.  My mom has been gone for 6 yrs now and even though I am in my 40's I am still a mamma's baby.  I was when she died and I was in my 30's then.
---- I am busy with work but I am also busy with trying to get my house in order for my daughter's baby shower Saturday.  This is her first baby and she is so excited.  My husband is going to go get a huge 20' long tent so that we can have it outside and not cram everyone up in our house.  We don't have enough room on the inside if everyone she has invited shows up.  But we will see.  Super super super excited.

Wednesday Hodgepodge is Back!!!!!!!

Welcome back everyone for another great edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond.  I am so excited to be joining in with her on her Wednesday Hodgepodges.  You never know what she is going to through at us to answer and they are always fund.  So be sure to leave some blog lovin and then hop over to her sight and join in on the fun.

1. Since you weren't Hodgepodging last Wednesday, how did you pass the time?
---- Being bored and lonely.  I look forward to your hodgepodges.

2. What's the first word that comes to mind when I say marriage? Yes, one word.
---- Sorry

3. Summer officially arrives in the Northern hemishpere later this week. Does it feel like summer where you live? Describe your idea of the perfect summer day.
----  Yes it is for certain summer here.  Yesterday it was in the 90's and today is suppose to be the same.  My poor A/C couldn't get the house below 81 yesterday and I was dying.  Even my daughter who has lived in Texas for the last 5 yrs complained that it was hot.
----  My perfect summer day would be hanging on the beach somewhere and playing in the ocean with lots of food, drinks and family.

4. "Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability."(Sam Keen) Is laziness ever respectable? Do you have a lazy summer planned, or something semi-ambitious?
---- I always have  a lazy summer planed.  With asthma and being out of shape I am not looking forward to stepping outside even to go to work.  However, I have decided to get into an exercise program so I guess I will be going out after all.

5. Past or present, who's your favorite television dad? Why is he a favorite? Is he anything like your own dad?
-----  Bill Cosby, because he keeps it real and shows that not only do you have to learn a lesson on your own but you are still loved no matter what the outcome or actions you take.

6. June 18th is International Picnic Day...share a favorite picnic memory.
----- I would have to say when I was about 10 or so.  My mom had a boyfriend that traveled alot for work and one year he was in town during summer and we went to Otter Creek Park and my mom actually enjoyed herself.  We all got in the water and I think it was the happiest I had ever seen my mom.

7. The travel site Trip Advisor lists the top five islands in the world for 2014 as-Ambergris Caye in Belize CayesProvidenciales in Turks and CaicosBora Bora in French PolynesiaMarco Island Florida, and Lewis and Harris in The Outer Hebrides (Scotland). Have you been to any of these? Of those listed (and if price were not a factor) which would you most like to book for a holiday?
--- Sadly no I haven't been to any of them.  But if I had a choice with price not an option I would have to say The Outer Hebrides in Scotland because that is one place I have always wanted to go.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
----  Took my daughter to her doctor yesterday to check on how baby C is doing and they told her he is now head down and it wouldn't be much longer.  Even though she didn't like the fact that they changed her due date from July 9th to July 24th.  But at least now that they have changed the date the baby is right on schedule with growth, weight and everything else.  I am so excited that it is almost baby time in my house.  It has been a long time since we had one of those around.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From This Side of the Pond

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge hosted by the wonderful Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond.  Be sure to leave some blog lovin and then go over to her blog and join in on the fun.  This will be the last one until June 18th because she is taking a break.  So without further ado, let's get to it shall we?

1. I've read several posts and status updates recently describing end of year school field trips. Do you remember taking school field trips as a kid? Where did you go and do you recall a favorite? For any parents responding today, have you ever chaperoned a school field trip, and if so where?

--- I remember taking one to Abraham Lincolns birthplace when I was in the 5th grade.  It was fun but it was also miserable because we had a long bus ride and I was in Catholic School and had to wear skirts....yuck!!!!!  But the best part was that I got my mom this little trinket box made out of wood from there and she used it up until the day she died.  Now I have it in a glass case with the stuff she had in it for years.
---  I have chaperoned several field trips for my kids.  The two that stand out the most is when I took my oldest daughter to the capital here in Kentucky and we did a tour of the Capital Building and then afterwards went to a park.  I ran across those pictures not to long ago.  The other one is when I took my younger daughter on a field trip to the airport, lets just say that taking a bunch of kindergartners to the airport with only 3 adults is like a zoo.

2. What's something you're tired of seeing online?

--- I would have to say the ads about how to get super skinny.  Unless you are a movie star or a millionaire you don't need to have that thrown in your face.  Everyone is different and alot of people with money can afford to have 24/7 Personal Trainers and surgery.

3. June is the month for roses. Which of the following expressions would you say has most recently applied to your life-'everything's coming up roses', 'there's no rose without a thorn', 'came out smelling like a rose', or 'wearing rose-colored glasses'?

--- Oh wow really Joyce?  Man is that a hard one.  My momma would have said I come out smelling like a rose and well most of the people I know still say that.  However, I would have to say that there is no rose without thorns.  It has been a rather rough couple of weeks and I am so glad it is over now.

4. When grilling outdoors do you prefer gas or charcoal? Who does the grilling at your house? What's the last thing you ate that was cooked on a grill?

--- I would have to say I prefer Charcoal but we do have a gas grill and my husband does the cooking on it.  The last thing we had on the grill was a steak.  However, our grill has been messed up for a while now so we have to get it fixed.

5. Are you afraid of the dark?

---  No, I sleep in the pitch dark, unless I am in unfamiliar territory and then I might have a problem

6. Share a favorite song with a number in it's title.

--- I will go with Another One Bites The Dust.  It has attitude and always makes me think of skating when I was younger.  Oh how I miss those days.

7. "Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves."(C.G. Jung). Do you agree? Why or why not?

--- I can neither agree nor disagree with this one.  It is right and wrong on both levels.  Some things that irritate us is just sheer stupidity on others parts and then somethings that irritates us is because we don't take the time to stop and think about the situation.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

---  My daughter has finally gotten her legal issues handled, her GED taken and Passed I might add and is getting ready for her baby to arrive.  She is really getting her life in order before this little one arrives.  Now she is driving me crazy about the baby shower which is still 25 days away.  But I know she is anxious for the little one to arrive.  I have to say I am so proud of her and that she is going to be a great mommy.
