Good morning everyone.  Today I am joining up for another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce over at From This Side of The Pond.  So jump on over there and get the questions and join in on the fun.  She is always so welcoming to newcomers and a great way to get to know some fellow bloggers.

Disclaimer...... I am not sure what is going on with my fonts today.....my computer isn't co-operating with me today on here....sorry for the different sizes and colors.

1. It's  been said that one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. Do you think that's true? Do you find that an easy exercise most mornings? What's something positive you told yourself today? If you missed that boat, what's something positive you could tell yourself tomorrow?
--- I do believe that if you wake up and tell yourself positive things then your day will be a good day.  However, events can change your mood quickly so you have to keep reminding yourself of the positive.
--- My something positive was that I can do this!  I have an Avon event tonight and I am presenting which I don't like to do but I know if I keep telling myself that I can do it then I will do it.

2. There will be karaoke at the next party you attend...are you in? Or will you be faking a sore throat?
----  I don't have a problem with singing in the car so I wouldn't have a problem singing at the party.  Now if I was at at bar that wouldn't happen....lol.
3. January 29th is National Puzzle Day...what's something found puzzling recently?
----  Figuring out a 1200 calorie diet that I can actually do with foods I actually like.
4.  Jigsaw, crossword, acrostic, logic, sudoku, word search...what's your favorite kind of puzzle, and when did you last work one?
----  My favorite would be a Jigsaw puzzle but I haven't worked one in probably 10 years.

5. Recently a writer by the name of Amy Glass ruffled feathers with a post she wrote saying she looks down on young women with husbands and kids and she's not sorry. Among other things, she says women will be equal with men when we stop saying house work and real work are equally important. You can read the whole piece by clicking here

What say you? Do you think men and women are equal in the 21st century? Why or why not?
---- I do not believe that women are as equal as men in the 21st century but we are getting closer.  Women are starting to step out of the shadows and start their own businesses.  We are more independent then we used to be and men are beginning to take notice.

6. What's a product you've noticed in the grocery store that you'd like to try, but haven't yet?
---- I honestly don't think that there is one.  I am very set on the products that I do like.  Every now and then I will come up with the idea to create a new recipe however that doesn't always turn out so good.

7. The author, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) was born this week in 1832 (January 27th).  Which character from his celebrated novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, would you most like to meet, and why? Here's a linkto a character list if you need help on this one. The Cheshire Cat, of course. I love that he can appear and disappear at will and I've always admired his cynicism.

----- I would have to say The Cheshire Cat.  Man to be able to appear and disappear as easily would be so nice.
8. Insert your own random thought here.

-----  I am hoping for a smooth and quick event tonight.  I have so much stuff that I need to get done and things I really need to work on.  I have been so lazy lately with my Avon business that I need to step it up alot.  They are currently giving away a 42" Flat Screen T.V. to those that recruit 10 people.  So far I have 1 scheduled so I need another 9 more to hit the 10 but honestly another 15 to make sure that I get the T.V. just in case someone decides they don't want to do it.

Friday Letters

Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday and staying warm on this very frigid day.  I am linking up with Kisha@The Glamorous French Housewife for another addition of Friday Letters.

Dear God,  Please watch over my son and the rest of the Herrold family as they lay his grandpa to rest today.  I know that he is with you smiling down on everyone and keeping watch.

Dear Barbara, Jason, Don, Cindy, and Andrew,  I am so sorry for your loss.  No words can express how you feel or what you are going through.  Just know that God has the big picture and we are all a part of the play in life preparing for a greater experience in Heaven.

Dear Brandon,  I am sorry you lost your grandpa.  I know that you have been extremely close to that side of the family and you haven't been able to spend much time with them the past couple of years.  For that I am sorry.  Just never forget that they all love you.

Dear Vicky,  I can't wait to see what the baby is going to be.  I know you will be a great mother to your baby no matter what it is.  I hope that your kidney stone passes soon so you don't have to get another stint.

Dear Trent,  I am sorry that I have been such a bitch lately.  I am just fighting insecurities that I know I shouldn't have.  I am honored to be called your wife and wake up and go to bed with you every night.  Just be patient with me and eventually I will get with the program.

Dear Kevin and Marie,  I hope that this flu/pneumonia goes away soon.  You all have been dealing with this stuff for a month now.  Keeping you both in my prayers.  Love and Miss You bunches.

Dear Scott and Kisha,  I know you all have to be hating this cold weather.  I am sure it is difficult on all aspects of your life right now.  Just know that it is almost over...lol.  Love you all and miss you bunches.

Dear weather,  will you stop with the frigid cold already.  I am done with you for crying out loud.  Schools are delayed for 2 hours every day which is insane.  It seems to get colder as the day goes on so schools should be closed.

Dear Self,  get your ass together.  I am so ashamed of how you have let yourself go and you are only 8 lbs from the heaviest you have ever been.  Didn't you swear that wasn't going to happen again?  Uh hello, it is happening.  So get your ass to the gym, find a way to walk more, drink more water and for goodness sake get on a lower calorie diet with 6 meals a day.  You can do this, you have done it before and you can do it again.

Hello's and Goodbyes May You Rest In Peace

As some of you know this past couple of weeks has been kind of crazy.  I haven't been doing posts like I have wanted to but hopefully soon things will calm down.  Probably not though considering that Avon has another great incentive going on.  If I recruit 10 people then I will win a big screen t.v.  Boy won't that come in handy.  Anyway, that is not what this post is about.

Friday I found out that my ex father-in-law passed away and it was a very sad day for alot of people who knew him.  Especially my son.  I talked with my ex mother-in-law for a long time Friday on my drive home.  We talked about everything from Don, her kids, my kids, friends, family and everything in between.  She apologized for keeping me on the phone for so long and I told her she didn't need to apologize because we have known each other for over 20 years now.  I expressed to her that I would like to come to the memorial service and pay my respects but I was concerned that it might cause a problem with me the ex husband.  She informed me that I was welcomed to come with my son if I wanted.

So last night when I came home my son informed me that the memorial service was tonight and asked if I wanted to go with him.  I told him I would go as support for him and pay my respects.  On our way there we got stuck in a horrible traffic delay and I was finally able to get to an exit to get around it.  I pray that the people in the wreck were ok.  From what we could see when we got off the expressway it looked bad but again we don't know.  My prayers are with all those involved in the wreck.

We get the memorial right after it had started so we all stood in the back of the funeral home and listened.  It was a nice service and the person giving the eulogy was right on as far as how Don was as a man.  I hadn't kept in contact with him since my ex and I split many years ago but he was still a part of my life from the past and my sons grandfather.  The service was beautiful and it had me tearing up but I was more concerned about my son.  He has experienced so much grief in the last 5 years that I was worried how he would handle it.  He handled it very well I must say and he shed his tears at to be expected.  After all it was his grandfather even though they hadn't really kept in contact for many years.  My son loved his grandpaw and was extremely close to him for the majority of his life.  Even after my ex and I got divorced his grandmother, grandfather and uncle Jason kept my son on the weekends that his father was to have him.  So to say they were all close was and is an understatement.

After the readings everyone walked to the front of the funeral home and paid their respects to the family.  I wasn't really looking forward to this part because my ex and I aren't on the best of term.  But I kept telling myself that this wasn't about him or me.  It was simply about being there for my son and paying my respect to the family.  So I took a deep breathe and I proceeded to the front.  I shook his hand and he looked at me and smiled and nodded.  Then I went to his sister Cindy whom I haven't seen in about 20 years, then the sister-in-law/aunt Tami who greeted us with open arms when we first got there, then to Uncle Jason, Grandma and finally Don Jr.  They all hugs me and thanked me for coming.  I wasn't really sure what to expect because like I said the ex and I don't get along.  He doesn't even have anything to do with our son.  A whole other story.

After the service everyone was invited back to Don Jr.s house for drinks and get together.  I was surprised that we were asked but we went.  I seen people I hadn't seen in years.  It was almost like it was old times.  Everyone was so nice and welcoming.  Now what happened afterwards might be different but they treated us with respect and welcomed us with open arms.  We joked and cut up and then it was time to leave.

I know that Don will be missed especially by his children.  I am a little disappointed that my ex didn't come back to the Dons house to spend more time with the rest of his family but I guess everyone deals in their own way.

Don was a military man, he loved working with those that served and was always on the move.  He was in his 80's and had lived a lifetime and seen alot in his years here on earth.  He would have been proud of his memorial service and to see all those that came out to pay their respects.  He volunteered his service without question and gave to his country proudly.  He wanted everyone to welcome, acknowledge and thank those in service for they are the reason we have our freedoms today.

So there was alot of hello's tonight to people I hadn't seen in years and a very sad good-bye to a man that loved his family and his country.  Heaven has another angel and a fighting angel that will defend anything that comes to do any harm to Heaven because that is the man he was.

So I say good-bye to you Mr. Donald Roy Herrold Sr and may you rest in peace and keep watch over those left behind.

As for everyone else, I say to you honor Don's request in thanking, acknowledging and welcoming those that have and are serving our country and continuing to fight for our freedoms.  Hug your family and tell them that they are loved, wanted and needed.  They are your everything and what holds your life together.  Because my son has lost his grandpaw, his family has lost their father, grandfather, uncle and brother in arms.

God Bless the Herrold Family and may God be with you in your time of grief.  When you look up at the sky smile because you know that Don is looking down on you.

Hodgepodge Wednesdays --- come join the fun

Today is volume 150 of the Hodgepodge Series.  You can check out others by simply going to visit Joyce at From This Side of The Pond.  I am not sure where she comes up with her questions but they are very interesting and makes you do some major thinking at times.  So come join us in the fun and share your thoughts and feelings as well as showing love for fellow bloggers.  Be sure submit your link once you have finished.

1. It was decided on Sunday the Denver Broncos will meet the Seattle Seahawks in this year's  Superbowl. So when was the last time you bowled? Not where you thought this question was going is it?  Do you like to bowl? Are you any good?
-----Surprised us I do believe.  This is not where I thought the question was going however, I am glad it went this way because I don't watch sports.  As for bowling, well me, hubby and my son haven't bowled in over a year.  Even though they both have bowling balls.  They are just collecting dust.

2.   Should sports stars be role models?
------ I think they are just like any other role model.  They have to be careful and watch what they are doing or saying because rather they want to be or not, most kids will look to them as a role model.  I don't think it is a matter of "should" but they "are" without choice.

3. January is National Oatmeal month...are you a fan? How do you like your oats?
-------  I learned something new with this question.  I never knew that but I do love me some Quaker Oats Maple and Brown Sugar Oats.  I have to buy it and hide it at work or my son will eat it all.  That is ok I don't mind but sometimes I want to be able to have it when I want it.

4. What is one book on your reading list for 2014?
----- Innocence by Dean Koontz.  However, I also have about 40 other books of his to read still sitting on my shelf.

5. What would you like your future self to say to your present self?
------ You can if you just get up off your ass and do it!!!!!  Now move already and lose that weight.

6. When scrolling through the TV guide, what is one movie title that makes you want to stop, grab the popcorn, and watch for a while?
---- Wow just 1?  I guess I would have to go with Wizard of Oz.  Yes I know that sounds dorky but I love that movie and watch it every time it is on t.v.

7. What are two style trends you hope never come back into fashion?
------  Tie die and hard punk.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
----- This past couple of weeks have been extremely busy at work and with my Avon business.  I have wanted to do alot more blogging but unfortunately that hasn't happened.  I will however be getting up some more post tonight and , Friday and this weekend.  I would say tomorrow but my day is packed tomorrow and I won't get home until after 9 and I know I will be exhausted.

Friday Letters

Well today has been the first day I have been able to do a blog all week.  Man what a week it has been.  We are short staffed at work so I have been on overload trying to fill in and get things done.  Not to mention is is end of month and end of year here.  Then to top it all off, I can't store 2013 stuff until the Auditors come and do their thing.  So I finally get to do my Friday Letters.

Dear God,  thank you for keeping me and my family safe on our way to work this morning.  It was super crazy on the drive in due to snow.

Dear Mother Nature,  really?  Come on enough already.  It is either freezing cold as in the 20's, snowing unexpectedly, raining or a perfect day with no wind and lots of sunshine and weather in the 50's.  What is going on with you.  Stop having these mood swings.  I am done with you already so just stop it.  Either one or the other and not all in the same week.  I was not liking the drive to work this morning.  It took me over an hour and still half the people I work with aren't here.

Dear Kevin and Marie,  I hope you both get to feeling better soon.  I hate that you all are sick and I am keeping you both in my prayers.  Love and Miss you all.

Dear Scott and Kisha,  I am glad that Jackson is doing better.  I will continue to pray for you guys and for Super Cooper.  I know Scott was freaked out because that is his baby.  Love and Miss you guys.

Dear Vicky and Brandon,  I am glad to see that you all are getting along.  I know it isn't easy living at home with mom but we are doing the best we all can.  Now just to keep the house straight is another story.

Dear Trent,  I just wanted to say that I love you and thank you for being so patient and understanding with me and the kids.  I know we all can't be easy to live with at times but you are doing a great job as a husband, provider and stepdad.

Dear self,  get your act together.  You can do this you just have to buckle down, step out of your comfort zone and own the Avon Business like you have in the past.  Get out of your funk, start exercising and don't worry about the little things.  You got this.  You have done it before and you can continue to do it now!!!!!

Dear Sonye',  Thank you so much for all of your words of encouragement and support.  You are truly a blessing and great friend.  Even though we are mostly co-workers/business partners I still consider you my friend and it is an honor to say I know you.

Dear Courtney,  thank you so much for being my mentor.  You truly do have my best at heart and I want to be sure that you know you are greatly appreciated.

Dear Avon,  bring on the incentives.  I have won the Keurig, missed the Ipad, not sure about the mustang yet but I am certainly going for the popcorn maker and big screen t.v. that you are giving away for recruiting.  Thank you also for making so many peoples dreams become reality.
Check out this great Avon Incentive!!!!!!!

Dear Blogger friends,  thank you for stopping by and visiting.  I would like to be able to get to know each and everyone of you and I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed weekend.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hello Everyone and welcome to another edition of Wednesday Hodgepodge.  If you have never linked up with this great Wednesday sharing then please hop over and visit Joyce at From This Side of the Pond and check out her blog.  Be sure to comment and let us know you were here and there.  Meet some fellow bloggers and see what all the different buzz is about.

1. Every January 1st since 1976 Lake Superior University has published a list of words they'd like to see banished from the Queen's English.  Words may be banished due to misuse, overuse or just general uselessness (go here to read more about how the words were chosen).  Here are the words/phrases they'd like to see banished in 2014-

selfie, twerk/twerking, hashtag, Twittersphere, Mr. Mom, T-bone, ____on steroids, the suffixes-ageddon, and -pocalypse added to anything and everything, from the world of politics the words-intellectually/morally bankrupt and Obamacare, and from the world of sports the words-adversity and fan base

Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Is there a word not on the list you'd like to add?

-----I would love to see Obamacare banished.  I am sick and tired of hearing that word.  It is just another way of saying that the government is going to screw you and control you without kissing you.
2. What one unfinished project nags at you begging to be completed in this new year?
---- Organizing my photos.

3. When did you last have a bowl of soup? What kind? Homemade or from a can? What's your favorite soup?
---I actually had a bowl of homemade of Loaded Baked Potato Soup that my daughter made for me.  She is a great cook.

4. Snowed in, snowed under, snow job...which one most applies to your life in recent days, figuratively speaking.
---Snowed in by far.  I hate that it is so cold that I can't work my Avon business like I want to.

5. What's the funniest movie you've ever seen, or at least oneof the funniest?
-----Despicable Me the first one.

6.  In general, would you say you're clumsy?
---oh yeah without doubt.

7. Elvis Presley was born on Hodgepodge Day (January 8th) back in 1935.  Are you an Elvis fan?  What's your favorite Elvis tune? If that's too hard, which Elvis tune do you dislike the least?  Click here for a list of his songs.
----Jailhouse Rock

8. Insert your own random thought here.
-----This past couple of weeks has been really hard for me dealing with depression but I have learned that you have to just sit back and enjoy all the wonderful things that GOD has created and know that there are loved ones around.

Friday Letters

So I am getting this done kind of late and I have a great reason.  I actually took the day off work to spend with my daughter getting her errands done.

Dear Back, I really wish you would stop hurting.  It drives me crazy that I can't sit or stand very long without you throbbing.

Dear Victoria,  I am proud of you for getting your stuff handled that you need to get handled for your baby.  You will be a great momma.  It was so great to be able to spend the day with you getting stuff done and playing at Babies R Us today.

Dear Kisha and Scott,  I am glad that things are getting back to normal for you after the holidays.  I sure wished you all lived closer but that won't be for a long time I am sure.  Hugs and kisses, love and miss you both.

Dear Marie and Kevin,  I am sorry that you all got sick after visiting Christmas Eve and I am glad to see Marie is out of the hospital.  Hopefully she will be back at a 100% in no time flat.

Dear Government,  seriously could you make people move a little faster.  We waited for over 4 hours to be seen for a medical card for my daughter.  I think you seriously need to have workers just for sign ups and then ones for those already receiving.  Not to mention you can't call and get an appointment.  geeezzzz you need to get it together.

Dear Credit Card Company, Thank you for making sure you kept a happy customer.  Your CSR that I talked to today absolutely rocked and got everything taken care of with one simple question.

Dear Courtney,  I know you don't read this but I want to wish you a great big Happy Birthday.

Dear Sonye',  I will keep you on my prayer list.  I don't know what I would have done without your guidance and ideas over the years.  Thank you for not letting me miss out on the opportunity to earn money with Avon any longer.

Dear Brandon,   I hope things are going great for you and Emilee.  I miss you you know.  YOU can come out of your room sometimes and watch t.v. with us.

Finally Dear Hubby,  thank you for always standing by my side and supporting me no matter what my decisions are.

So what Wednesday

This is the first time that I am joining up with Shannon over at Life After I Dew for this "So What! Wednesday"  What a neat way to get some things off of your chest so to speak.

So What if......
  • I am not the best at all this technical stuff for the blog....I will keep trying
  • I am still sitting in my pj's at almost 4 in the afternoon on my day off
  • I refuse to make a New Years Resolution.  I find I usually break them anyway
  • that there is tons of housework that I am ignoring like no tomorrow.
  • I have over 50 Dean Koontz books that I haven't read yet.  There are 52 weeks in a year so I can read one a week.
  • That I haven't cleaned my desk in over a week
  • I need a hair style change, I find that if it isn't broke then don't fix it works.  fyi...same hair style since the 80's but not a puffy one.
  • I still don't understand twitter, pinterest or instagram.
I do need to get up off my ass and get moving for the day.  I have a decal that I need to put on my car and it isn't going to get there by itself.

So head on over to Shannon's page link above and link up with her for your So What's today.  Also stop by my page on Fun Facts about Your State and share the info.

Life After I Dew

Fun and Amazing Facts about Kentucky

Good afternoon and Happy New Years Friends and Family alike.  Today I thought it would be fun to share some fun and amazing facts about my state.  I have lived in Louisville, KY for the majority of my life and have traveled alot across the U.S. but this is and has always been home to me.

Are there other states that I would love to live in?  Absolutely.  Will I eventually get to move and settle into one of them for the rest of my life?  Probably NOT.  It is not that I don't want to, it is that this is HOME!  Home is where the heart is, home is where I grew up, home is where my mom and daughter are buried.  Home is where no matter what someone is always close if I need them.

But as this post is suppose to be about...the to 10 amazing things about Kentucky.  So I hope that you will join me on this fact finding mission and link up below to share things about your state that others may or may not know.

1.  The radio was invented by a Kentuckiana named Nathan B. Stubblefield of Murray in 1892.
----I didn't know that.  See something new I learned today.

2.  The song "Happy Birthday to You" was the creation of two Louisville Sisters in 1893.  According to Wikipedia which yes I googled.

3.  Mammoth Cave is the world's longest cave and was first promoted in 1816, making it the second oldest tourist attraction in the United States. Niagara Falls, New York is first.

4.  More than $6 billion worth of gold is held in the underground vaults of Fort Knox. This is the largest amount of gold stored anywhere in the world.
------This has even been mentioned in movies.  Although alot of people here don't believe that they really have any gold left in the reserves but no one will ever know the truth.

5.  Thunder Over Louisville is the opening ceremony for the Kentucky Derby Festival and is the world's largest fireworks display.
----People from all over the world come to see it.  Most everyone here enjoys it.  However, I haven't attended one in years.  To many people, to much traffic and honestly I don't like the headache.

6.  Teacher Mary S. Wilson held the first observance of Mother's Day in Henderson in 1887. It was made a national holiday in 1916.

7.  The public saw an electric light for the first time in Louisville. Thomas Edison introduced his incandescent light bulb to crowds at the Southern Exposition in 1883.
----and they say Kentucky isn't the brightest state...lol.

8.   Middlesboro is the only city in the United States built within a meteor crater.

9.  Chevrolet Corvettes are manufactured in Bowling Green.

10.  Origin of the name - Named after the Iroquois Indian word "Ken-tah-ten, " meaning "land of tomorrow".  Source

So join me with your interesting facts about your state and lets all share and learn something together.  Link up below.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hello everyone and Happy New Year.  May it be blessed with love, laughter and great fortune.

So every Wednesday I try and hook up with Joyce over at From This Side of The Pond with her Wednesday Hodgepodge Series.  It is interesting to see some of the questions and answers.  So please join in on the fun and get to know your fellow bloggers.  So be sure to link up with her on her site and enjoy the reads.

Here we go-

1. Times Square is the setting for the infamous ball drop signaling a brand new year....when did you last 'drop the ball' on something?
When don't I seem to drop the ball so to speak.  I am horrible at keeping my desk organized and feel that is by far my biggest issue.

2. What is one thing you resolved to do in 2013 that you actually did?
To clean my garage.  Yes it may seem like it isn't a big deal but if you had seen my garage you would know it most certainly was.  It took me and the hubby about 4 hours to clean it.

3. Jack London is quoted as saying, "You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club." Agree or disagree? Why?
Hmmmm...this is a hard one actually.  I guess I would be stuck in the middle on it.  Sometimes you have have all the best intensions but lack the motivation.  Then there are other times when you see something and you get your "awwhaaa" moment that gives you all the inspiration  you need to get moving or to get it done.

4. What was the best thing you ate in 2013?
Well I don't know if it was the "best" for me but it was certainly one of the "best" things I have ever made.  Strawberries with Cheesecake in the middle...omg it was delicious.

5.  Share an anti-resolution...that is, something you plan to keep on doing in the new year.
Getting on track with my finances.  I have been extremely horrible at this lately.  I haven't written in my checkbook register for over 6 years and with the internet and immediate access I don't need to.  However, I do need to get my credit cards under control and I have been working on that for a while.  It will still take me several months but I will get them to zero.

6. The Pantone color of the year for 2014 is radiant orchid.  Like or no like? Would I find this color anywhere in your home or wardrobe? Will you add something in this shade to either?
I love Orchids and yes I like the color.  As for finding it in my wardrobe...absolutely.  I already have a t-shirt this color.

7. In three words or less sum up your 2013.
    It's finally OVER!!!!!!!!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I have to say that 2014 is going to be a better year.  My daughter is home and is having a baby.  It is due 4 days after her birthday and 6 days before mine.  I am planning on losing alot of weight but I won't kid myself about it.  I know that it is going to take alot of hard work and dedication that I honestly have a hard time finding.  As for my blog I plan on doing more with it and eventually getting into the Youtube videos that my sister-in-law keeps on me about.
